The following are supplementary things (what I call ‘quick wins’) that I find very easy and quick to follow and that help tremendously.

The additional cushioning will help release even more pressure from your knees. These insoles are my #1 recommended with a super comfortable feel and can be cut to fit (so don’t worry about sizes). A quick and effective way to help keep my swelling in check. Compression squeezes leg tissues and walls of the veins that can help blood return to the heart, and improve the flow of the fluid (called lymph) that bathes the cells in the legs. Improving the flow of lymph can help reduce tissue swelling. I can say that compression helps me tremendously!
I DO NOT recommend knee braces. Why? overuse will tend to cause atrophy on the vastus medialis, and this is a super important muscle for the proper alignment of the kneecap. What I use instead (highly recommend!) are these SKINS full compression leggings. Maintaining strength in your muscles around the knee is key! But this part of the process can only come after your knee feels relieved so you can properly and painlessly execute low impact routines and progress into more advanced routines eventually. You need to understand that proper muscle tone around your knee (quads and hamstring) is critical in order to relieve pressure from the knee; this way your muscles work more as shock absorbers in your movement and not your knees.
