Hello fellow runners!
This is Lionel Pannunzio. I’m a weekend warrior (and week warrior as well) just like many of you. I am also a Physical Therapist in Weston Florida. I have a great passion in helping athletes get back to action after an injury. I can tell you that I feel great despair when I see runners not being able to perform as a consequence of pain that limits their training. This is really frustrating for any runner..!
I will be using this space at Atletikka.com as a mean to help the running community by covering many topics and writing articles about the diagnosis and treatment of frequent injuries that affect runners. Stay tuned at Atletikka.com every week where I will be posting new articles with interesting and useful content.
To give an advance, I wanted to share with you one of the latest research articles for Runners. This is a fresh study from Benjamin Mulvad about Diagnoses and time to recovery among injured recreational runners in the RUN CLEVER trial
In this study, the author followed 839 recreational runners for 24 weeks .
140 runners (32%) got a least one injury. From the 140 injured runners 82 (73%) were female and 30 (27%) were male
The most common running injuries among recreational runners were Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (stress to tibia ) followed by Achilles Tendinopathy and Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome.
